Greek Wedding Favors

I need wedding favor ideas using baby food jars. Any ideas?

We are having a hippie themed wedding, but something flower related would probably work to. I appreciate all the great ideas. I'm leaning toward the seeds, but I also liked the snowglobes and candle ideas. We aren't allowed to use candles at the hall (yeah, strange I know), so if I go with candles I would have to wrap them with something so people don't try to use them at the reception, but instead take them home. Any thoughts on quotes to attach to the jars if I go with flower seeds?

  1. You could go to a craft store and buy a bunch of wicks and a bunch of that powdered colored wax and then make little candles out of the baby food jars!
  2. fill them with various grades of pot
  3. OOoo!! Make them little snowglobes! Or popperri holders..
  4. Find some hippy 60s print material & some ugly 60s ribbon & lace & cover those baby food jars. Add tea lights in them to decorate the tables & the church aisle.
  5. jam or u could use them as to put treats in and put them on the table for the gests to take home
  6. Hot glue ribbon and bows around where the top went on, fill with colored sand, and put a few silk "flower power" type flowers in them. Use them for center pieces on the tables, 3 to each table. OR...you could use them for each place setting, doing the same as above, but along with a single flower, have one of those flower card holders (the ones in arrangements that hold the notecard) and put people's names on the cards for the seating arrangement.
  7. You know those covered almonds? The ones that are pink and white? Some cultures give those out in weddings as a aymbol of fertility and good luck. You can fill the jars with those. I just looked hem up. They're called Jordan Almonds, and this is what they look like: http://www.shopforweddings.com/shopforweddings/AFLProductPage.aspx?pId=P33(KnotShop)&cId=Boutique(KnotShop)&scId=Fall%20Weddings(KnotShop)&cTypF=BO
  8. Maybe you could fill them with something and give them as gifts. How about... Granola? oo! Seeds! Something to plant!! How about planting very small seedlings in them so that your guests can take home a plant? My cousin sent home oak saplings with all of his guests - it was lovely! We planted ours in the yard and remember his wedding every time we see it!
  9. You can make tiny flower arrangements to place at each setting using the foam you buy in a craft store and silk flowers. If this is done properly, you can actually substitute these for the flower arrangements on the tables, saving you money. Instead, try a bowl with floating candles.
  10. You can go to www.shopforweddings.com and click on hippie
  11. You can put the rice in them,if you are doing the whole throwing rice thing. You can decorate them hippyish.
  12. I think the homemade granola is a great idea.
  13. Put tea lights in them. Cheap and easy and ecologically better than using electricity, which keeps with the hippie theme.
  14. YOu can buy some glycerin (sp) and confetti and glitter and make very simple snow globes. They sell confetti in all shapes including peace signs, smilies, flowers, you name it. I believe it is one part glycerin for every two parts water but check it out on the internet. Just make sure to put a small bead of hot glue along the top of the bottle to create a good seal.
  15. get a floral tissue paper line the jar with it & fill with mints
  16. Snow Globes. Go to your local craft store and get the plastic wedding trinkets...glue them in the lid. Add water, oil and glitter...wah la...wedding snow globes.
  17. Try posting a projects at http://www.clienty.com and they can give you price quotes from vendors. It's a free service for brides and they helped me a lot. It's a really nifty site and they'll help you save money for your wedding. Good luck!
  18. If you go with the candle idea, you could wrap them in tulle circles (available at craft stores for cheap, or make them yourself with a sandwich plate and a few yards of inexpensive tulle), tie with coordinating ribbon and glue a couple of silk flowers on. For seeds, wrap in a tulle drawstring bag (also available at craft stores), place inside the baby food jar, and wrap a coordinating colored tulle around the entire thing, tie with ribbon and glue a couple of silk flowers on.
  19. You could fill them with honey...I got that as a favor one time, because it's the only food that lasts forever (like your love...). And it's natural, ya hippie!! :-D
