How do I coordinate a wedding reception?

I am having my wedding reception on June 13,2009. My Fiance and I are planning a private ceremony with only immediate family prior to this date. Because I will be already married before this date would I still do the normal wedding reception timeline for example be introduced as the Mr. & Mrs, first dance, dance with father, cake cutting , toasting, and etc....

  1. Sure the only thing different are the invitations they should be to "celebrate the union of MR and MRS..." everything else is the same. Good luck and take care!
  2. Yes, yes and yes. My sisger had two receptions at either end of California and redid everything for the later reception. Just pretend you have left your wedding and are starting the reception. It'll be great.
  3. We are doing this as well. We plan on showing the reception guests a video of the ceremony as it will only be short then having ourselves introduced by a friend, probably something along the lines of And now to present Mr & Mrs. Then a cake and cocktail hour after which We are inviting anyone who would like to do a speech/toast to do so, we are having a band who will then say this is for _______, where we will have something like the first dance then get other guests up on the floor with us afterwards. There are no limits, you can do it however you would like to
  4. I don't see why not. you and the groom and wedding party, if there is one, can get dolled up and do photos while your caterer starts with a cocktail hour for the guests, with cheese & fruit, shrimp, passed hors d'oeuvres or whatever. then after an hour of that start the formal dinner part, at which time you can be introduced by the DJ or band and enter the room for your first dance. then like you said, do the father daughter dance, mother son dance, toasts, bouquet toss, garter toss dinner cake etc
  5. The reception is the fun bit where you and your new partner will be the centre of attention. You should have as much fun with it as you possibly can. Go the whole nine yards if you can afford it. My own reception was the best day of my life, and I will always have great memories of it.
