What are some good activities for a wedding reception?

Im having a wedding reception on a Saturday night from 8-11, that is kind of late for kids but I am allowing them there, there will be some drinking, not alot(hopefully). Alot of the guests dont know one another and I am hoping to have something going on that will let everyone get aquainted. Also, the wedding is a private wedding, only bride and groom so noone will be at that. Any ideas? Please!

1. All you need are drinks and music, people will mingle and socialize on their own. I would advise against planning any group activities, people find that cheesy and uncomfortable.
2. I think make sure theres some background music on, maybe run a little slideshow of photos to entertain people, and if possible, make sure the venue is smaller rather than bigger - that way everyone will tend to mix in easier
