Do I open Bridal Shower gifts sent to me?

I know when my shower is (March 14). I got two gifts today (they were bought from our registry on-line) from people who I know are coming to the shower. My mom says I shouldn't open them and I should bring them to the shower and open them there. My Grandfather & MOH say I should open them now because they will be expecting a thank you note. What do you think? One is my cousin so I may ask her. I can't understand why, if they are coming to the shower and aren't traveling far, they would send the gift to me.

1. Wait to open it.
2. Wait to open them until the shower, especially if they are attending the shower. Then, after the shower, you send out thank-yous to everyone who attended and everyone who brought a gift. Seriously, wait to open. If the person who sent the gift in the mail isn't there, then just announce who the gift is from and that they unfortunately couldn't attend. Send out Thank-you's after the party. no one expects a thank you card for a gift or attending a party AT the party. They expect it within a couple of weeks after the party.
3. I would wait if you know that they will be attending your shower, it is less than 2 weeks away, and I am sure they will not be expecting a TY note before that anyway.
4. Your mother is right - wait to open your gifts at your shower. I believe the reason they are being mailed to you rather then your guest bringing them to your shower is because many stores offer courtesy gift wrapping and shipping. You have up to one year to send out thank you notes for any gifts you receive - so don't worry about that. I do hope however, you will get all your thank you notes out much sooner. 5. Weird as to why they did that, but listen to your mom~ everyone likes to see the gift they bought being opened by the bride
6. I would wait until your shower. That way the givers have the opportunity to watch you open their gifts.
7. Since they are attending the shower, wait to open the gifts at the shower, unless they are too large to transport. Then, when you open your gifts, acknowledge the gift and the giver at the shower.
8. Bring it to your shower and open it there. If you gave an address to ship gifts to, sometimes during checkout it automatically chooses your address so if they weren't paying attention and didn't put in their shipping address it would automatically come to you.
