Looking for a good way to open bridal shower gifts?

I do NOT want to play bridal party bingo. I did not do a "display shower" because I felt like it wasn't "traditional" enough for my grandma ;) Does anyone have ANY fun games to play while I am opening gifts that will keep people less bored?

  1. My sister had everyone think of "advice" for us... they listed it on index cards and then shared with the group. You could also have people answer random questions about you and whoever answers the most correctly gets a prize.
  2. Separate your guest into groups (however many you want). Give each group a category (clothes, candles, nightwear, gift cards, things for the honeymoon night, knickknacks, etc) And as you are opening your gifts, your groups keep track of what you received. At the end, whatever group has the most tallies wins. Give them a little gift.
  3. i just went to a shower and we didn't play the games while she was unwrapping the gifts we played them before. we played pin the bouquet on the bride , do you know the bride, and toilet paper wedding dress. it was a fun shower people like family and friends are going to want to see your reaction when you open their gifts and they cant do that if they are playing a game
  4. Unless it is a very intimate shower with just a few of those near and dear, then put your gifts aside until after the party. When a show is made of the gifts, you risk discomfiting a guest constrained by small budget or who has unusual ideas of style and taste. Open your gifts privately so that you need not worry about composing your face into a delighted smile when you are not at all delighted.
  5. One bridal shower I was at they set a timer while the bride was opening gifts. When the timer would go off, if it was your gift that the bride was opening you won a little prize. It seemed to go over pretty well because people would be like c'mon timer, go off!!
  6. As the bride, you do not need to be planning your own shower... Whoever is throwing you the shower, presumably a friend or relative, has the responsibility of coming up with the activities and games at the shower... Talk to that person and brainstorm with them if you do not trust them to come up with everything by themselves. But ultimately it is not your responsibility
