Is a destination wedding reception the same as a traditional reception?
If a couple gets married far away and then has a celebration back at home later, are the activities pretty much the same as a traditional wedding reception? First dance, champagne toast, cutting the cake, father/daughter dance, bouquet & garter toss, and so on? What are normal activities for a formal destination wedding celebration?

- We're eloping and having a more casual celebration a few months after we return. We'll wear our wedding attire and have a few (short!) speeches and cut the cake. We're also having a slide show of our wedding pics and maybe some small wedding favours with our actual wedding date on them. The point of us eloping (different to a dest wedding, I realise) was to save money, so our celebration will most likely be a back yard BBQ and our 'reception' activities will be suited to it's casual nature. Good luck!
- There are no definite rules. Its your wedding, you can do whatever you want, however you would like to do it. Definitely keep that in mind...however, typically when a destination wedding has taken place and the later home reception occurs, it tends to be much more casual than if it were immediately following the ceremony. More Wedding shower feel than reception. However, if you would like it to be fancy...just specify that on the invite so everyone knows how they are expected to dress!
