I need wedding favor ideas. Can anyone help?
I have no idea what to give for favors in my upcoming August wedding. My fiancé I don't want to give my guest something they will eventually throw out, as it would be a waste of money. I though about giving a donation in my guest’s name, but my fiancé does not like that idea because he feels people should get a little something to take home. I thought about candies, but so many do that already… any suggestions on something new and inexpensive?

- I don't think favors are necessary, but I agree that guests would rather have something to take home than donations in their names to a charity they may or may not support. The problem is, unless it's food, there are few choices that are affordable and that guests would truly like. If you can wrangle together a few friends who can bake, you can give everyone cookies to take home decorated with your initials and/or wedding date. Another option is burned CDs with your favorite love songs on them.
- I found a website that sells nice winestoppers. The more you buy, the cheaper they get, so it depends on how many guests you have, but it's something they would keep anyways. http://www.incasagifts.com/Wedding-Favors/Bottle-Stoppers-Wine-Favors
- Any food is a good favor! Candy, cookies, pies... For my wedding, I did a candy buffet so that people could choose their own candy. My colors were pink and white so I went after v-day and got all my candy 50% off! http://www.roydresselphoto.com/Weddings/Barnes-Flores%209-12-09/IMG_1428.JPG For a wedding I catered, they gave their guest big sugar cookies done in animal prints with blue frosting. I thought that was really cute and looked yummy! A friend whose wedding I wasn't able to make it to had mini pies as her favor. Yes, candy may be over done but it is because that is what people really enjoy! It is all about how you present it that makes the difference!
- I found that making a CD of "your" songs was always a great wedding favor. It's pretty easy to make and fun to compile the songs that represent you! All the Best! Weddings By Dezign
- I like the donation idea (and am thinking of doing that myself actually) but if you decide to go with favors I suggest you go to these websites (I found them in "Brides" magazine--the Southern California edition): www.favorsyoukeep.com www.candyspirit.com www.advantagebridal.com www.beau-coup.com/brides www.classybride.com I hope these help =] OH and you can also design your own t-shirts on www.customizedgirl.com ("Bride" "Bridesmaid" "Mother of the bride" "Maid of Honor" anything you want it to say!) They're having a deal on some shirts, they're on sale for $8 and you can make them however you want! Congratulations on the big day! I hope we both have stress-free weddings lol -Shelby
- I'm doing a pair of chopsticks for each guest. My fiance is Japanese and we both love sushi! Plus we are serving sushi at our wedding. So that's an idea lol
- I'm glad that you are nit doing trinkets (trash) , or "donations" (rude), edibles are the very best. We gave Godiva chocolate boxes in our wedding. They have 2 count boxes and 4 count boxes, you can customize with color ribbons if your wish. I do not know what your budget is, ours were about $5.00 each. http://www.godiva.com/Catalog/category.aspx?id=157 They have other brands of chocolate that have small boxes too that are less expensive. Try Russell Stove. Sugar cookies are also cute as favors. Good luck
- we are giving stemless wine glasses at our wedding. Our wedding is at a wine garden, so it follows the theme and people will use them afterwards. We aren't engraving them or anything, just attaching a name to it and our wedding date with ribbon that can be removed. This way they act as place holder as well.
- My cousin and his wife made their own wine and put their wedding info on the label (names, date) which was a nice favour. The wine was actually really good, and when you had it, of course you remembered the bride and groom, and their special day, etc. A friend and her husband replaced the exterior label of Caramilk bars with a nice label done by them in white with similar info. On the back where the ingredients/calories, etc. usually is they put something like: We removed all the calories especially for you and replaced them with love. It was a bit cheesy, maybe, but cute. We're giving out something called Subhah, but it's an ethnic sort of thing that wouldn't work for nearly anyone else. Good luck figuring something else.
- How about personalized sodas? www.myjones.com
- Do something creative like little picture frames with of picture of you two or a coaster personalized. Sorry thats all i can think of. Hope that helped.
- you are absolutely right about favors that have no use and will eventually land in the trash. they are a waste of your money. go for practical gifts. something edible is always a good bet. it doesn't have to be candy though. just to give you an idea, for my favors, we are giving away tarts that are a specialty in the city where we grew up. you can have something like that, an edible item that means something to both of you. if you have a wine themed wedding, you can give away mini wine bottles. or if you have an outdoor ceremony and your mom makes a mean jam, you can always give them a small can of jam and you can put a note that it's lovingly made by the bride's mom... something like that... or if you wanna forgo the edible stuff altogether, give somethin that will be of use. give seed packets that they can plant when they get home. or a personlized pen and note pad maybe. there are tons of ideas that you can use. good luck! :)
- I got my favors from: www.favorsandaccessories.com Several different variations for themes and stuff.
- This is a great favor, sure to get plenty of use in every house: Slice of Love Pizza Cutter: http://www.favorsandaccessories.com/slice-of-love-pizza-cutter.html If you do not like it, you can find plenty of useful favors on that site at low prices.
- you could get personalized m&ms. i am getting them in the colors for the wedding, but since they are so expensive, i am getting some personalized and some just in bulk, like a big bag of just white and just red. we bought material for a veil at a fabric shop and using the leftover material for a little bag, and tying ribbon around it.
- One of the favors my fiance and I are considering is lip balm, which is something the women and the men can use. We found these little pots of balm that you can get personalized with the name and date of your wedding, and they're just 89 cents each! http://www.favorwarehouse.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=favor-warehouse&Product_Code=xEOS7012-WEDDING&Category_Code= We also love how they're something small that the guys can just throw in their pocket, and the ladies can slip in their purses, so no one will have to worry about where to put their favor so they don't forget it. Plus they're vanilla scented, and I don't know anyone who doesn't like vanilla! Best of Luck with everything :)
