How far in advance do you register for wedding and bridal shower gifts?

Public Comments

  1. As soon as you set the wedding date
  2. There's really no limit. I started a few months before my wedding. Once you have picked out what you want, go ahead and register.
  3. months
  4. A month or two...
  5. about a week before you send out the invitations to your wedding or bridal shower.
  6. idk liek a day b4 the wedding
  7. I did mine about 3 mths before the wedding and also we had the shower a mth before the wedding. Be prepared to get alot of toasters. If you go to walmart and selsct alot of cleaning stuff most ppl will be all of it and put it in a mop bucket.
  8. Personally, I'd register at least 6 months before your wedding date- this way, whomever is planning a bridal shower, has plenty of time to relay your registry information to guests. Congrats!
  9. I registered 6 months. It gave people time and got 1 thing out of the way.
  10. You traditionally register at your store six to nine months before your wedding date. Atleast thats what my wedding book told me last year.
  11. You must be registered before invitations go out. Invitations must go at at least 3 weeks prior to the event.
  12. 2 months is the average time
  13. Three to four months before the wedding. This will allow people to shop for shower gifts and wedding gifts in advance. The longer people have to shop for your gifts the greater likelyhood of getting the majority of wish list. Please don't forget about Garden tools, household tool, office supplies, cleaning supplies, all those little things that you don't think about but need around the house.
  14. I would register 6 months before the ceremony. Suggestion for you....check what is left on the registry after you have a bridal shower, to make sure their are decent selections left for the wedding guests to pick from, if it is low, you can go back into the store and add to it at any time.
  15. You can register for gifts as far in advance as you want (some websites and planners say as soon as you get engaged and some say as late as 2 to 3 months before the wedding) but, make sure you have registered or at least picked out places you want to be registered by the time you send out the wedding invitations or bridal shower guest lists. I've started planning for my registry (picking out places to register) and my fiancee and I will probably go gift hunting in the next 2 months. Make sure you keep checking back in your registry to make sure there are enough gifts and nothing has gone on clearance or is no longer available in the stores. Good Luck!!!!
